A Mix of Emotions

I received my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine today. It was a very pleasant process. One of the local hospitals set up the day for teachers to get their shots. The road to the hospital was lined with signs “. . . Hospital ❤ Educators! Thank you, teachers, for getting vaccinated!” In less than 20 minutes, I was checked-in, vaccinated, monitored, and then given a goodie bag before walking out the door. Yes, we were given goodie bags! I truly felt appreciated and valued.

Given my experience this morning, you may wonder why this post is titled a mix of emotions. Well, I feel guilt about receiving this vaccine when others are not yet allowed. I feel angry that we are at this place in public health. I also feel grateful that we are at this place in public health. I feel confused about how to feel!

I am also hopeful . . . .
