I decided to end the year in Biology with an agriculture and food unit. We started by watching a favorite of mine, “The Biggest Little Farm.” If you have not watched this (the first one from 2018, not the short sequel), I highly recommend it! The students I have been struggling to engage this year watched intently. Afterward, we had one of the most energized conversations of the year!
The content of the movie led us into a conversation and activity around food systems. I am using parts of a food system curriculum from Johns Hopkins: https://www.foodspan.org/ We will also watch a few more documentaries before we are done. I am excited to see how well this unit turns out with this particular group. It has been a rough year and I am hopeful we can end on a positive note!
