A few years ago, my son wrote his autobiography for his new teacher. In preparation, he asked me to read it. I found myself surprised by what was and was not included in his story – his version of the most important events that defined him. My biography of his life would have been so different and I was quite shocked that the two versions did not align. I have been thinking about this time in our lives and wonder what parts will our children and our students hold as significant? What about this time will they choose to remember as defining moments?
