Making Associations

In class yesterday, students shared short biographies of famous chemists. I wanted my students to remember these people and what they were famous for, so I asked them to make associations. At the end of each biography, we worked as a class to develop an association. This was challenging but fun. My favorite of the day was for Amadeo Avogadro. Avogadro sounds like avocado and avocados are used to make guacamole and Avogadro tells us how much to make a mole. I think the students enjoyed this activity. šŸ™‚
